Practical Training in Chalk Signage
This series of workshops is designed to take you to the next level in professional and artistic chalk signage. No matter what your current skill level, the principles and techniques practiced in this course will refine and improve your sign artistry and visual communication skills.
 
Content
The series of fast paced workshops will give participants a whirl-wind tour through commercial chalk art in all its varieties. Some of the key topics are listed below with links to galleries with examples:

• Mastering different lettering styles
• Key principles for layout
• Using colour effectively
• Borders and flourishes
• Images
• Reproducing branding

 
Process
The 90 minute workshops are all “hands on” from start to finish: challenging, fun and open to all skill levels. Participants will be lead through progressive design challenges based on real signage needs in a marketing context and support and feedback will be given throughout.
 
Duration
Complete course is 5 sessions of 90 mins each. It is a progressive course but flexible enough to cater for absences or late entries.
 
Workshop leader
Nigel has been doing commercial chalk sign writing for over three years. He has done everything from large scale murals to price tags, weddings to barbershops, theatre shows to tv advertising. He is featured in the recent book The Art of Chalk. Examples of his work can be seen at customchalksigns.com.
